However, for... read more this two week trip, I wanted something more relaxing and healing. A friend recommended staying in Ubud at Bisma Cottages. Due to availability, I had to stay in two different rooms, but this turned out to be a positive experience as I was able to try two different room types.

First was the Cottage — a beautifully wooden cottage with a really cosy feel. Both the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. I noticed thoughtful details such as bamboo toilet paper, lovely naturally scented body wash, and affirmation cards placed throughout the room.

The second room was the Deluxe Cottage, which I really enjoyed due to the extra space. It has a living area with a dining table, sofa, and mini kitchen. I used the dining table as a desk when I needed to do some work. There is also a large balcony, and the shower has a beautiful rice field view. It’s a really lovely room and perfect for couples, those who need to work, and families with young children.

Apart from the rooms, the pool area was relaxing and private. The all female team — Icha , Febri, and Dinda — were incredibly helpful and kind. Thank you 💖

I also took part in a water purification experience with Darma, which I highly recommend to anyone wanting a deeper understanding of Balinese culture and history. It was a very beneficial experience and something I plan to do every time I return to Bali.

I do wish I had booked more of Bisma Cottages’ tours and experiences, but I definitely will on my next visit. I’m so glad I listened to my friend and stayed at Bisma Cottages. Being in Ubud was exactly what I needed.

They have a free coffee and tea station, a lovely pool to swim in which was just a few steps from our door and an awesome laundry service. Everything is so clean, the rooms, paths and gardens. Plus so many other things were provided for our stay, we wanted for nothing.

Gusti lovingly takes care of the beautiful garden and the pool: you can really feel the peace and harmony in every corner.

  Bisma Cottages - my home away from home! - I can’t say enough good things about Bisma Cottages and its team! As a solo female traveller I felt safe and welcomed. I stayed in both room types and both... read more are very comfortable, well appointed and clean. In the standard room the jugs of drinking water in the mini fridge and the bathroom are a welcome touch especially after a long international journey. The water dispenser in the deluxe room is a key detail as you don’t have leave your room for drinking water. A small jug for the bathroom counter in the deluxe room would be a nice addition (I used the coffee pot which is an easy substitute if, like me, you’re not a coffee drinker).

I booked the female solo traveller package with a few extra days added for my own time and plans and the itinerary was logical and each day went according to plan with no challenges or hiccups. The massage was in a beautiful spa a quick walk away, the day tour was so fun and great to get out of Ubud town center. The floating breakfast is beautiful and perfect for Instagram if that’s your jam. I had flight cancellations and an untimely late arrival into Bali and the airport pickup was simply rescheduled to accommodate my new flights without issue. Koko was my driver and is a sweetheart.

If staying more than 3 nights I recommend booking the deluxe room so you have more space to spread out and a bit more clothing storage space as well. It’s not necessary as the standard rooms provide everything you need but the extra space for a longer stay is an added comfort.

Reservations and tours are easily booked via email and WhatsApp. Once onsite I was lucky to meet Kelly in person and share some good conversations; she has lots of great insight to Ubud based on your interests. Her team, Pebri, Dinda, and Icha are so warm and kind and take excellent care of the property and its guests.

Bisma Cottages is in an excellent location just off the busiest streets but walking distance to the main sights and/or a quick Grab/Gojek bike ride away.

I was genuinely sad to leave but know I’ll be back on my next trip to Bali

The rooms are equipped with everything you need, with air conditioning, private bathroom and free water, coffee and tea at the entrance. It is also possible to organize excursions directly with the hotel! The value for money is really excellent and I felt like home I will definitely be back, thank you very much ❤️
